Nursing research is central in the profession since it helps in forming the basis for the continued practice of the profession. This is because nursing research is predominantly focused on understanding as well as assessing the symptoms of acute and chronic illness, delayed onset of disability or diseases, trying to get the most sustainable approach to achieving optimal health as well as constant improvement of the clinical setting under which health care is provided (National Institute of Nursing Research, 2003).
