Considering however that he does not wish to do so, he should make a stronger case for himself by engaging in political activities. He should stop relying on the results' power to influence the CEO's decision and convince the CEO that he is the right man for the U.S. job. Michael does have the power to do this as it is obvious he is a valuable staff members and this gives him the power to negotiate his contracts (Widmann and Kopelan, quoted by Ellen Peebles).
