Microsoft Office Training Program RFP

Introduction to the company

The company represents a private practice that keeps a few general practitioners on staff throughout the day as well as a team of trained nurses and administrative professional to support the health related activities. The total staff represents a team of roughly two dozen people and the administrative team is roughly half of the number of the total employees.

Your company's business goals

Since the organization is not quite large enough to make a major purchase of a software specialty healthcare package like found in bigger operations and in hospitals, yet still large enough to utilize some kind of collaboration software to keep records straight among the team members Microsoft (MS) Office was chosen to fill this need. MS Office has grown significantly more advanced over the years and now offers a suite of products that can be highly customized to serve many business functions.

Introduction to the project

The goals of the project include each member of the office receiving the appropriate skills in MS Office that will enable them to use this tool to help keep the office organized as well as offer various methods of collaboration. For example, the IM tool on the Office SharePoint Workspace could provide a way for administrative employees to ask each other questions without having to walk across the office or interrupt any of the other employees.

Other tools like Outlook offer also a plethora of various ways to communicate and share files.

Project goals

The goals of the project are for everyone to learn the basics of the needed software such as Outlook, Excel, and SharePoint Workspace (Microsoft, 2011). Other functions should only learned by the people who will actually be using the skills for that specific part of MS Office. For example, if only one employee is using Publisher to design newsletters then it doesn't make much sense for everyone to learn how to use that piece of software. Another example would be Access to be used to form a database of client records or even more advanced tools to handle electronic medical records (Microsoft, 2011). Although everyone in the office would most likely need to be familiar with data entry in that system, there would only need two be a few people who had the skills to design data query templates. Therefore, the overall goal of the project is that everyone receives the basic skills in the programs that the office decides to utilize and also that the specialized skills for the more specific functions should also earned by the designated parties.

Time allocated to complete the project

The entire project should be completed within three months. This includes software installation, consultations, user training, and system set-up.
