Persian Between 1000 and 1700

Persian as a region was known to be of significant influence to the rest of the world in many aspects ranging from science, to geography, religion and other disciplines. The region gained significant expansion in terms of the influence within the region and interaction with the rest of the world especially in the 1000 and 1700 period due to the various reasons discussed here.

The expansion of the Persian was perpetuated by the turning of the Persianate world to be more than just a region but a concept or a system that transverse the Persian gulf alone, it presented a shared system, knowledge, statecraft, religiosity, trade, diplomacy and even sociability which were conveyed through the use of a common Persian language. This made it easy to expand the Persian empire beyond the physical borders that existed (Sharma S., 2014:Pp1-2).

The Persian empire, currently referred to as Iran also gained significant expansion and recognition across the region after the 1000 due to the friendlier and fairer trading conditions that existed therein. They were not bent on destroying the local economy for their own gain, but rather worked to expand trade throughout the kingdom.

Yet another reason for the expansion in influence of the Persian empire is the tolerance that they had to the people they conquered. They tolerated and respected their religion as well as their culture. They extensively propagated peaceful coexistence with the conquered and concentrated on the economic prosperity. The rulers were quick to establish working administrative structures in areas they conquered and never used terror to keep their subjects in line (World History Center, 2015 ).

Persian language was also used as the administrative language hence several documents had to be written in Persian, a fact that compelled many regions to learn the language, in the process helping to expand the Persianate ideologies and literature across the Persian gulf and beyond. This administrative use was not only restricted to Persian language but other languages like Punjabi were used alongside the Persian language as indicated by Murphy A., (n.d.:Pp42 )
