Inequality

From a very young age, I came to understand what it means to be poor and underprivileged. I recognize so much more regarding the manner in which paucity touches numerous Canadians as well as the tussles they endure. As I am from a tiny out port municipality that earns their livelihood from fishing, I have seen numerous people with tiniest pay occupations, getting communal help, or Employment Insurance (EI) benefits. It was clear to me that my blood relations are engaged within the Fishing industry as well as claiming EI benefits throughout the winter season, I was aware just how difficult it often was to not have sufficient money on hand. Although we have always remained above the scarcity line and me along with my brothers and sisters have got used to receiving all that we ever needed, to some degree, we are aware about what happens when a person does not have sufficient money which is something that numerous families have to contend with. I am also currently aware that there happen to be numerous philosophies concerning the very poor and that they find it very hard to survive with the society's inequalities. Rigid systems and an oblivious political class and elite have thus complicated a very simple problem having straightforward solutions.

I have firsthand knowledge which makes me comprehend just what a person is going to feel when their income is below an acceptable level. This firsthand knowledge has given me a clear idea about the way people felt when their incomes are insufficient to meet their needs. Most of us are of the belief that individuals live on social help since they lack the will to work. However, I am aware that after you read this piece that this is far from being true. There happen to be many typecasts of persons that are deprived and once you learn about what makes this happen and you also know the reason for some persons being under the acceptable level of income I will make you change your perspective of these individuals. Do not evaluate them according to the funds they have at their disposal. Instead, consider them to be at par with the rest of the social order. I have come to learn that persons are impoverished are many times capable of escaping their predicament in a couple of years' time. Such persons need some assistance and reassurance from those who are in a well-off position. This has been the reason why after being able to live a normal life, I am ready to do everything possible to offer assistance to the needy.

That being said one must understand that its not easy to measure poverty in the developed world. Poverty has been quite immeasurable - even if the impoverished live in Canada or another developed country. It has not been possible to implore paucity if we are measuring ourselves by people who are truly deprived and who must face their impoverished states on a daily basis. While the lucky get hot water by switching on a tap those who live in the underdeveloped countries of the world will get hot water only by heating the water on a camp-stove or a raging fire. Only then can they perform their day-to-day freedoms. And as you pick up your dauphin potatoes with a branded label and as you get tips on cooking asparagus with beef, nicely prepared in a food processing plant, someone in the third world will have to settle for rationed food items since such commodities are unavailable within their areas, or because resources has been distributed in such a way that things have become very blurred for them. It just is not possible to measure impoverishment when living in a country like Canada. Our measurement of impoverishment is in comparison to the upper half in the social order in Canada, but we all do not have reason to complain. There is no reason why Canadians should complain because when taken together Canadians really do not have reason to complain.

Larger social structures, institutions, and social poverty patterns in Canada

Canada enjoys a reputation for helping countries who are in need. The country's reputation for assisting third world countries is laudable. Even so, the truth is that Canada disregards its own needs to solve its own quandaries, like issues connected with impoverishment that affects numerous Canadians today. Osberg (2008) points out that while it has been a virtuous action to assist those who are in dire need in diverse parts of the world, even then Canada should concentrate on looking for answers, as well as it also needs to plan how to help Canadians who are in need before doing anything else. The situation might be likened to saying that it is not possible to assist anyone till you are able to assist yourself first.

Canada has seen an increase in poverty following the great depression but it has not neglected its impoverished citizens. In fact after looking closely at its Welfare State, it is clear that it has put into practice many welfare schemes to help improve the quality of life of those Canadians who are in need. Nonetheless, even in present times, it is a big issue confronting many of its people. Many schemes have been applied in equal measure by present as well as preceding political leaderships to combat paucity. In a more general sense, there is the issue as to why industrialized nations face impoverishment. The developed countries tackle the issue of impoverishment in several similar and diverse ways. In Canada, minority groups are seeing a rise in impoverishment. What's more the country's aborigines and colored folks as well as freshly arrived immigrants also have to manage impoverishment. The Canadian financial sector as well as its economy is distributed in an uneven manner and the well-off have been getting wealthier and the deprived are becoming poorer. The Canadian government ought to concentrate on removing impoverishment, and it ought to also provide improved assistance to those who are deprived. The Canadian government must help those who are in need, especially aborigines who are poor because they are not properly educated (Levitas, 2005).

Bowles et al. (2006) argues that with the passage of time, government regulations have been changed so as to better present day poverty problems. As time passes, policy changes have been made to help better the current poverty problems (Bowles et al., 2006). Even so, the wealthy as well as the underprivileged have been falling further apart and the financial-system as well as healthcare issues have not been improved sufficiently. Sarlo (2006) argues that presently there are numerous difficulties and faults with the manner the Canadian government's welfare policies have dealt with healthcare, inequality of income as well as poverty.
