Once this occurs, is when the author is discussing how there are differences in public perceptions and polices. As, most people will immediately assume that there are laws designed to protect society. Yet, in reality the underlying amounts of abuse continue to remain high with over 200 million cases reported each year. This is important; because it is showing how the author is highlighting the way abuse related cases are continuing to remain a lingering problem on a regular basis. (Lampinen, 2010)

The best practices are when Lampinen is carefully examining specific strategies that can be used to prevent violence targeted against children. For example, there is a discussion of how the receiver operating characteristics model can focus on key attributes. That will help to identify certain attributes, which could make the child a target of abuse. This is important, because these ideas are assisting everyone in understanding how they are playing a role during the process. Once this occurs, is when they can be used as a part of a practice setting in preventing abuse. This is the point that the mental health professional can begin having a positive impact on the underlying quality of care that they are receiving. (Lampinen, 2010)

The changes in technology have meant that the public and law enforcement has better tools they can use for dealing with these issues. A few of the most notable include: the use the Internet to catch / monitor sex offenders and the way it is utilized to commit these kinds of crimes. This is because, the web allows perpetrators to: anonymously reach out to these children and entice them to become involved in activities physically or sexually abusive. Once this occurs, it means that communities are facing increasing amounts of danger associated with these problems.
As a result, law enforcement is encouraging parents to monitor the activities of their children when they are online. At the same time, there are various databases that are designed to report to parents if someone is a registered sex offender. This is providing the public with greater amounts of transparency about: the activities of their child and how they can be protected. (Lampinen, 2010)

Clearly, the experiences that a child is having with physical or sexual abuse will have an impact on the world around them. This is because, they will not understand what is happening to them and the meaning of what is taking place. Over the course of time, this can cause them to become very withdrawn and negative about what is happening. In the future, this will lead to regressed feelings of this violence (in the child) and how they were impacted by it.

When we were examining Protecting Children from Violence, the author is discussing: the history, best practices and changes. These different elements are important, because they are providing psychologists with a tool in understanding the problem and how to effectively deal with these issues. If this kind of approach can be taken on a regular basis, it will ensure that the amounts of violence directed against children will decline in the future. The reason why, is because there are greater levels of accountability and enforcement to protect children. This is the point that there will be changes in: how society and law enforcement are reacting to these events. Once this occurs, is when there will be shifts in attitudes and perceptions about these problems......
