Yes, I could have done what Haun did. However, the adjustments would have been difficult given the length, uncertainty and harshness of the journey. This is an indication as to how this generation was more adaptable and could deal with a number of problems. Part of the reason for this, is because most people have not been exposed to this kind of lifestyle and often live in world that is dominated by luxury items (from a 19th century perspective).
