The seasons of the year are produced by the tilt of the axis of the Earth. The earth's tilt on its axis causes the hours of daylight to shorten during the cooler months of the year. This affects the changing of the seasons and indirectly affects plant growth, as a plant's ability to survive and flourish will depend on the area where it is located and the relative heat or chill of that region and the region's exposure to sunlight.
