Politics of Civil Rights

Politics is defined by Dictionary.com as, "The often internally conflicting interrelationships among people in a society" (DI 2005). Politics, then, in many cases, is the cause or the determining factor of civil rights.

Civil rights are those rights developed by citizens over time and sometimes protected by governments. Most notably, or those receiving the most national and international media, are those more generally-based constitutional civil rights "such as the right to vote, the right to personal freedom, the right to life, the right to freedom of movement and anti-discrimination laws" (WI 2005) as described very generally by Wikipedia.
