The truth is that the state started losing jobs in 2000, during the seven years when Republicans held the governor's office along with both houses of the legislature, but at a considerably lesser rate. Ohio has had more than 568,300 jobs since 2000 vanish, consisting of 403,800 in the manufacturing segment. This is a key matter in front of both Republican and Democratic incumbents in this mid year campaign cycle. Strickland's major issue has been the economy and the job loss across the state, a lot of which moved to other states. As governor, Strickland has slashed both personal income taxes and business taxes, making Ohio one of only two states that don't have a general tax on corporate profits or personal property used for business. After serving in the U.S. House of Representatives, Kasich began working for Lehman Brothers, where he was managing director of the investment banking firm's Columbus unit. Kasich also achieved national publicity as an analyst for Fox News Channel. He stepped down from this position in 2007. He is suggesting stopping the income tax in Ohio completely and centering business capacity on rejuvenating the state financial system. Based upon the path that the country is currently on I believe that John Kasich will win this race. Not necessarily based on the fact that he is the best candidate for the job and certainly not based on the fact that Ted Strickland is the worst person for the job, but strictly based on the fact that he is Republican. On the surface both of these candidates has their faults and both have been at the heart of controversy, so how are the people to decide. The trend across the country is going to lean towards the Republican Party which is going to give Kasich the edge in this race......
