BullyingBullying and incivility are forms of aggressive behavior that can create conflict in the workplace. Bullying typically involves repeated, intentional behavior that is intended to harm or intimidate another person (Tran et al., 2018). Incivility, on the other hand, is characterized by rude or disrespectful behavior that can create a negative work environment (Santoso et al., 2020).In the healthcare setting, bullying and incivility can have serious consequences, including decreased morale among staff, increased turnover, and a decrease in the quality of patient care (Kline & Lewis, 2019). These behaviors can also lead to conflicts among staff members, which can further disrupt the work environment and create a negative impact on patient care. To reduce and eliminate bullying and incivility in the workplace, management can take a number of steps (McPherson & Buxton, 2019). These can include implementing policies and procedures that clearly outline expectations for respectful and professional behavior, as well as providing training and support for staff to help them develop the skills and knowledge they need to prevent and respond to incidents of bullying and incivility (King et al., 2021).Additionally, management should take steps to promote a positive work environment, such as by recognizing and rewarding staff members who demonstrate positive behavior and by addressing conflicts and incidents of bullying and incivility quickly and effectively (King et al., 2021). Thus, addressing bullying and incivility in the workplace requires a combination of preventative measures, training and support, and effective conflict resolution.
