money is a factor in politics, it is also a factor in academics and it is a corrupting influence, because who controls the purse strings controls the content. It is like having sponsored content in a newspaper: the university's educative content is essentially sponsored by benefactors who have a say and a stake in the ideas that are promoted. Thus one should pay attention to who and what entities are supporting universities if one is sensitive to what sort of material he or she wants to learn, because depending on the backers of the institution it might turn out that a very specific worldview or focus is promoted.

Also, with college tuitions rising and the job market shrinking, there is a significant chance that a great many students will be left with a bill that they simply cannot afford. Debt over one's eyeballs is certainly nowhere close to being the American Dream; therefore, one has to wonder why one would even go to college? The problem is that the jobs market is cornered and hedged in by the college cartel. No one is hiring unless you can present your credentials -- which means a college diploma that you likely paid a hefty fee to get (Hershbein, Hollenbeck, 2015).

The GI Bill is a nice idea in theory, but who is paying for all these incentives? The military industrial complex uses such rewards for signing up for service to entice young men and women to join and go off to fight the wars for the military industrial complex which is really just an arm of the big business and Wall Street according to retired general Smedley Butler (2003). And these wars are a drain on the economy, for taxpayers finance them and the weapons producers are the only ones who profit (Scott, 2007). So while there is an exchange of services (the war profiteers get their soldiers and the soldiers get their college tuition and other perks and incentives) the moral and economic compromise is to be regretted.

Therefore, the GI Bill may seem like a good idea in theory but in reality it perpetuates the war machine and helps to make perpetual war a reality by incentivizing it to young people who otherwise see no way to get ahead in the world because they cannot afford college tuition -- and everyone needs a degree today otherwise one….....
