Project Management: Lessons Learned From Project Plans in the New World

The article Project Plans in the New World (Rosenwinkel (1995) provides many useful insights into how to manage a complex project successfully, taking into account the many factors or variables that are crucial for a project's success. The author concentrates on the "Free Wheeler" type of project leader who often ignores constraints of time, cost and resources in determining how to successfully manage a complex project to completion (Rosenwinkel, 1995). Comparing this article to experiences launching new products, followed by an interpretation of two "people" and "project" variables, and a summary of how a project's direction and scope would need to be modified based on lessons learned from Rosenwinkel (1995) are presented in this paper.
