Checking the solution to the problem works as a check and balance system to the health care industry. An example may be problems with staffing. The plan could be developed to allow nurses to handle their own scheduling as long as all needed shifts and duties are covered. The plan could allow nurses to sign up for schedules and then submit their schedules to management for approval. The do would actually run a mock trial by having nurses do exactly that. The checking of the solution would be when the schedules would be held against the need to see if there are any holes. If nurses all demanded the easiest shifts or floors, that would show up as a problem (Murton group Business Network Partnership (http://www.murtongroup.com/documentation/deming1.htm).If they refused to work outside of their desired shift that would show another problem. The solution can be checked through this doing stage and then the checking stage looks at how well the new plan actually worked.

The checking stage tests the hypothesis if the plan. Once it is determined that the plan was a valid and reliable one, or if it wasn't a new plan is developed and the three stages are repeated the final step to the PDCA can be utilized. This is the step in which the results of the first three steps are acted on. In the case of this scenario, if the nurses covered all shifts, and made sure there were no gaps, then the plan can be tried on a real life basis.
Acting on the results with caution as it gets up and running is in order. It is important to exercise caution at this stage while overseeing the plan and making sure it continues to be successful. Following several successful self scheduling weeks it can be made a part of the normal operation (Murton group Business Network Partnership (http://www.murtongroup.com/documentation/deming1.htm).

The successful management of quality assurance is not something that is negotiable. The PDCA theory provides a strong check and balance system to implement practices throughout the industry by planning, trying in theory, checking success and then real life implementing. This protects the consumer, while providing the industry with opportunity to continue to evolve in its operation......
