This tailored approach is essential for maximizing recovery and helping patients to regain their prior level of functioning.ConclusionWith proper rehabilitation, patients can expect to regain full function of their knee and resume normal activity levels. Barring a severe tear, the literature recommends that patients’ first step in rehabilitation be to rest the knee and allow the initial swelling to go down. Once the swelling has subsided, patients should begin physical therapy, which will focus on regaining range of motion and strengthening the muscles around the knee.
