The report entails a thorough analysis of the current difficulties faced by the Montgomery University of South Carolina. Despite the presence of necessary infrastructure, the University has been facing various problems in maintaining the educational standards which is directly related to University's funds management. Another troubles area is the attraction of new students and retention of the old ones.

A survey has been conducted for understanding the possible causes of these problems. The possible reasons along with the possible solutions identified, will be discussed in the Faculty retreat which will be taking place from 14-16 September, 2012. It will be suggested that a body managing the performance of the faculty members should be established and instead of the collaborative structure, a traditional model of department management should be introduced. Various measures should be taken for the promotion of the University and for maintaining standards of education.

Overview of the Schools' Current Situation

Montgomery University of South Carolina has been a state of Art University when it comes to necessary facilities and provisions and it has been famous in the areas near its vicinity. The goodwill of the University has managed to attract reasonable strengths of students every semester since its inception (within last three years since it became operational). However, the University has changed its operations model and from traditional departmental and hierarchical model, we are following collaborative operations strategy. The overall idea is to ensure that the faculty and students from different disciplines can share their knowledge base and exhibit synergy.

However, since most of the faculty members are from traditional schooling systems, therefore despite the convenience this system offers, we are unable to reap its benefits as we lack necessary specialization for exercising this model. As a result, deadlines have been missed to severe extent, in last three semesters. Resultant is the distorted view of the University which is endangering its going concern.

This delay in coherence is causing further delay in completing the deadlines and is affecting the quality of education.

Furthermore, as per a survey conducted by our Geology department faculty members in last week, we came to know that majority of students have joined our university because of its presence in the vicinity and not due to educational standards. Such impression of the University is creating difficulty in attracting and retaining students. It was also discovered that the promotion of the university is being taking place in a highly inefficient manner, due to which we lost more than 300 students last semester to Anderson University of North Carolina. Hence, departmental issues, lack of sufficient promotion and compromised quality standards are hampering the progress of the university and also endangering its continuity since our university funds are jeopardized because of inefficient progress.

Issues Discussed During Faculty Retreat

During the faculty retreat which is to be taken place from 14-16 September, 2012, we will be discussing all these issues at a greater wavelength. Thorough analysis and frequent meetings conducted with other faculty members has enabled us to reach an understanding that the school is currently facing difficulty in three major areas as discussed above. However, further evaluation and brain storming lead us to a conclusion that all these problems have stemmed out of lack of collaboration between the faculties members (Knowles & Linn, 2004). For discussing these issues at length, we have decided to address all the issues individually at each day of the retreat.

In order to have a clear idea as to why these problems are taking place, we will be conducted an online survey and the outcomes of these would enable us to evaluate the actual reasons. If it is found that some areas are not included in the survey, faculty members would be encouraged….....
