The Royal Philips Electronics was founded by two brothers; Anton Philips and Gerard Philips in the year 1891 at Eindhoven city. Initially the main product of the company was the small carbon-filament lamp. However, the company has since transformed itself from a single office company to a multinational company with its main headquarters located in Amsterdam, Netherlands. Its' branch network spreads across in every major market in world, and today after more than 100 years since it was formed the company boosts in its profile as being one of the largest global diversified industrial companies in the world with an estimated sales in the year 2010 reportedly being Euro 25,419 million.

Philips Company started with a workforce of only two employees who were the founding brothers, however according to figures given by the company human resource department, the company currently has over 180,000 employees whom are deployed in the company's manufacturing sites located in twenty eight different countries across the world and in their sales outlets located across 150 different countries.

Philips is a leading company in the world for its range of healthcare products, lifestyle products and lighting products. The company's main aim is improving people's lives through their timely innovation in their line of products.
