3 FM. The show was dedicated to the goal of inspiring teenagers to reach for their dreams and not to give up on them even when they encounter obstacles. I also work at a nonprofit organization called Youth Empowerment Solutions (YES!) that is involved in training other nonprofit organizations. Yes! advocates on behalf of youth and helps foster partnerships between youths and the adult volunteers to create positive and meaningful changes in the community. The organization is built partly on the belief that many traditional organizations ignore the important role that younger people can play in volunteer work in achieving beneficial community changes. In my role, I have had the opportunity to help work to change general perceptions about the value of teenagers in the community, and I have been able to help demonstrate what teens can do to help create change when they are given the opportunity and basic resources to do so.

I also volunteer with my church, Rod of God Ministries where one of my first volunteer positions involved cleaning the bathrooms.

I welcomed that opportunity and tried to help some of my peers understand that every contribution to any worthwhile cause is important whether it is one that provides personal recognition or not. In my opinion, being able to perform menial labor helps us build character and helps us remain humble and appreciative. Naturally, it is more gratifying to deceive recognition for performing and that is why I also enjoy being a trained jazz dancer. In that capacity, I have been fortunate enough to have had the opportunity to perform with the Carolina Panther Top Cats. In my opinion, however, it is necessary to experience less gratifying responsibilities to fully appreciate all of the positive opportunities that come our way.

As a student at ____, I hope to become a leader of my peers by helping others discover their hidden strengths and to honor, my family, my heritage as an African-American student, and to live up to the academic standards that best emulate the values of the Asai….....
