Presentation ResponsesAutismThe PowerPoint presentation was well-organized and presented in an appealing manner. It did a good job of explaining the condition of autism and its early signs, prevalence, and diagnosis. In addition, the presentation did a good job of explaining the understanding needs of autistic learners as well as how to manage and train autistic employees. I now have a better understanding of autism and how to help address this population’s needs. For instance, I know from the PPT that autism is a developmental disorder that affects communication and social interaction, and that early signs of autism include difficulty making eye contact, lack of response to one\'s name, and repetitive body movements. With proper support, many autistic people can live independently and lead productive lives and function fine in the workplace.TBIThe presentation on traumatic brain injury was insightful and explained the process of medical care likely to be received when presenting for TBI. It was interesting to read about Statewide Head Injury Program (SHIP) as I had never heard of that program before, and it is good to know it exists for people who need it. The presentation went on to discuss legal and ethical accommodations and how schools should be prepared to handle students with TBI.
This was again helpful as it emphasized the need for inclusivity. Overall, I would say the presentation delivered a lot of useful information, explaining the issue and how to address it. It was organized and thoughtful, but in terms of presentation it did not offer many visual cues—which was fine, as the main points were all there on the slides—but sometimes visual cues can help to emphasize an overall theme or give style to the presentation......
