Retention Process in Healthcare Sector

Key issues to consider while selecting and retaining medical professionals

The cumulative term that describes the well-being of the dwellers of any particular region is the effective healthcare system. A healthcare system is an effective aggregation of human resource, the associations and the relevant resources that can serve the purpose of rendering the healthcare service to fulfill the necessary health requirements of the individuals in a way that the heath care policies serve the maximum number of people in the given period of time and within the available resources.

The two important issues that are essential to cater while understanding the true nature of the healthcare system and medical professionals are to identify the core responsibilities along with the augmented responsibilities of the physicians and secondly to identify and demarcate the target population of the health care system (Casey, 2011).

The healthcare system operates in the complete conformity of the fact that it is utilitarian in nature. This implies to the fact that the healthcare system deals and works on the principles that advocates that policies and measures should be designed in a way that they serve and do good to the maximum number of people. But a great deal of confusion exists regarding the core and the augmented responsibilities of the medical professionals and the related human resource involved in the practical implementation of the healthcare policies. As a matter of fact there is no uniform healthcare system that has been adapted by all the countries across the world but following the basic requirements and keeping in consideration the basic statistics including the population, the death and the birth rate and the basic geographic requirements that serve as the discrepancy for the healthcare system across the world. The habituated part of the globe as a matter of fact is divided into the developed, undeveloped and developing nations and so is the division of the healthcare system of the countries, but the fact needs to be established that the healthcare systems of the developed countries as well as underdeveloped and developing countries all share a common point that the healthcare systems were evolved by the mutual interventions of the state along with coordinated domains of religion, welfare and private organizations.
Another important factor that has contributed to the development of this system is the trends that has rooted the corporate world in the twenty-first century, the corporate social responsibility, has now been regarded as the source of finance enhancement for the healthcare systems.

But yet the research mainly encompasses the dealings and proceedings pertaining to the responsibilities of the doctors and the health professionals in the health care settings. The numbers of people that are brought to the hospitals are the patients and the causative agents that have resulted in the health care systems across the world. Before the establishment of the World Health Organization there were no exact and absolutes standards and goals of evaluating and standardizing the healthcare systems. But with the invasion of the World Health Organization the goals and objectives of the healthcare system is defined by means of five C's namely Cost, Coverage, Consistency, Complexity and Chronic Illness.

Apart from theses 5 C's the goal of the healthcare system as defined by the WTO is the continuity of the healthcare. As a matter of fact the doctors and the paramedical staff seems well versed with the etiquettes and responsibilities of communicating and ensuring proper healthcare measures but the point of argument rotates around the fact that while the patients are being discharged from the hospitals the doctors and the relevant paramedical staff seems unaware of their responsibility to cater the patient with the real facts and the measures he needs to take till the date of next appointment (Ewert, 2009).

Owing to the high costs that the patients are bearing in order to get medical facilities the fact needs to be established that the needs of the patients are being catered according to the charges and the pay and the nature of disease they have. Communication as a matter of fact has a wide and broad role to play in almost all the professions of daily life.
