Pilot

Martha and Ivette arrive in the United States. They struggle to find work and a place to live. They are hard-bitten, funny characters. They contrast the life they led in Cuba with their life in the United States. Many aspects of life that people take for granted in the U.S. are surprises to them. Ivette regrets leaving Cuba with her baby. The boys want to have their names changed to more American names. To try to make Ivette feel more at home and to make the boys happy, Martha tries to stage a 'block party' for all of the residents of the apartment complex. Unfortunately, Martha is unfamiliar with an American grocery store and the food she makes is a debacle. Ivette steps in with her cooking skills, salvages the BBQ and begins to feel more at home in the U.S......
