The employees are not likely to be put into dire straits if they are let go, but they are going to be treated unfairly. The unfairness is a continuation of the decision made several years ago by both the employees and the CEO.

Temperance is not necessary for Frank in this situation. These three employees have been treated differently, and this will continue. He should, however, advocate for them to some degree, pointing out the situation. He should avoid taking on a formal position of advocacy, but he should have confidence in his ability to get them the best deal possible or even to find a way to bring their treatment in line with that of the other employees.
If by speaking up he harms his career with this company, that is a situation that will come about sooner or later, unless he plans to never speak up. The amplitude of the harm done should not impact Frank's decision to speak up, but clearly in real world situations it will impact the degree of vociferousness required......
