Not spending so much time struggling entirely on my own has also freed up a large segment of time each week as well. What I've also noticed is that setting goals for learning, both from a content and time standpoints, really works. Saying to myself I will learn a series of concepts in a given chapter or segment of the course and getting the urgency to master those concepts within a given timeframe is a tremendously powerful motivator. While I don't make all the deadlines I set for myself, the urgency to learn a specific area within a given timeframe really helps to say "no" to distractions and feel better about mastering a given area of a course. I'm finding this really helps in my more difficult classes as well.

Competing with myself puts time management into an entirely different perspective. I'm no longer the slave to the clock or to schedules, I work to master them by staying focused and managing my time. While urgent, unforeseen projects come up often, having the focus and intensity ot beat my own deadlines for projects helps to overcome setbacks.
I've also found the more I say no to outside distractions, the freer I am to say yes to the people and things that matter the most to me. My family and friends mean a lot to me, and focusing on spending time with them motivates me more now to get work done so I can relax when I am around them. The saying run the day or it runs you has become very real to me as I go through the lessons in time management. Being able to say no, I am finding, is a huge time saver too. Not feeling bad about it is key, yet staying focused on goals and making the most of….....
