moved to Puerto Rico, away from my family and friends, I had no idea of the hardships that I would face. Because of them, I am writing to you today to ask for your assistance in allowing me to transfer back to where my home is. Please, allow me to tell you why this is so important to me and my future. My ex-fiancee is from Puerto Rico. I met her in college, and we fell in love. After my undergraduate studies I moved here with her. We thought that we would have a wonderful life together, but she soon began to struggle with the demanding school schedule that I had. She also saw the life that my mother and her mother were living, and they are both married to physicians. She decided that she could not live that kind of life -- that it was not what she wanted for her future. Because of this, she grew distant, and we drifted apart, finally ending our relationship. This was very painful for me, but I understand and respect her decision. She must do what is right for her own life and her own future, and I realize that I cannot control that. However, despite my continued respect for the choice that she made, I now find myself alone in a foreign country where I basically know no one and have no close ties. This is very uncomfortable for me, and I am concerned that my studies will suffer from it.
