As for treatment for transient tachypnea of the newborn, there are several factors that will affect this. How old the baby is, gestationally, and the medical history of the pregnancy will play a part in it, as will how serious the condition is, the expectations that are had for the course of the condition, the tolerance that the baby is thought to have for medications, procedures, or therapies that might help, and generally, the opinion or preference of the parents as long as the baby is not in any danger. Blood tests are sometimes done to see the blood oxygen level of the baby, and supplemental oxygen may be needed, as may a breathing machine that provides constant pressure and helps to keep the lungs open.
