The urban culture doesn't have a single characteristic that could define it but urban cultures around the world have some common traits. Economics and work are the main focus, customs and traditions are non-existent, religion is everyone's personal matter and law is not to be taken in one's own hands. Urban culture is more powerful and influential because it doesn't bind. It offers freedom and a chance to grow and become as successful as the next person. But these things are missing in many tribal systems around the world where the rich people would keep the poor down by various means to secure their superiority and might.

While the tribal culture has a better chance of survival in third world countries, they have little or no chance of going the distance in the developed world. In order to prolong their survival, they need to stick to some values and customs, which the younger generation is not very keen to follow or practice. This means that with the younger people have accesss to the modern world around them, they receive education, which teaches freedom and move in a modern culture that is not bound by customs.
They then start questioning the values of their tribes and the worth of those customs. Sooner or later, they will want to abandon those customs and adopt the urban culture. Language preservation is another way in which tribes can survive but most tribal languages are slowly dying as one correspondent notes "language extinction is accelerating today due to population pressures and the spread of industrialization." [1] There are some tribes in Wisconsin as well that are facing similar language threats as Stefanie Pervos reports "Due to globalization and the rapid spread of English and other world languages, tribal languages, such as the tribal language Menominee, are dying off at an unnaturally fast rate."

These changes indicate that tribal system may not be able to survive in the long run because urbanization is a very powerful and potent phenomenon......
