Sea turtles do not appear to possess features necessary for a similar mechanism, and yet they are able to find their way to favored spawning locations even when placed in unfamiliar parts of the ocean hundreds of miles from their target (Luschi et al.). The evidence seems to suggest that the sea turtles actually pick up information from winds and currents that pass the island before coming their way (Luschi et al. 529). This could indicate that there is some sort of cognitive process going on that lets the turtles know which direction home is and how to go about getting there.

The many species of turtle are truly among some of the most unusual and amazing members of the animal kingdom.
