Currently, the domestic policy seems to be pleasing a majority of the American people by lessening regulations on offshore and Arctic oil drilling. It also seems to be attempting to manage the home loan crisis by creating legislation to help at least some homeowners. However, some of these decisions have very long-term affects that are now being overlooked, such as the harm to the environment these decisions may create. In addition, many experts note that drilling, even if it began tomorrow, would not make any difference in gasoline prices for at least ten years or more, and it would not add significantly to the oil reserves around the world (Wangness).
