" The message is positive and upbeat, it has simple principles, and shows people how to change their outlook and so change their lives. It is a special book with special lessons, and I hope I can put it to good use in my own life. If anything, I wished that it were longer, because the message was so positive and inspirational. For example, he writes, "Every age, every generation, is confronted by new realities, new tragedies, new difficulties, but also new truths" (Vanier, 2003, p. 122). That is a powerful message that seemed to talk just to me. I am worried about finding a job after I graduate, what the future holds, and about the many problems that face our country and our world. Vanier shows that every generation faces their own set of problems, but they find great things to celebrate, too, and that is an important message to me. It gives me hope for the future, and that is one reason I find this book so comforting on so many levels.
