"Why Not Me?" and "Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me" are books authored by Mindy Kaling. Through these two books, Kaling weaves together her childhood experiences, her early successes into the comedy scene and her identity issues. Mindy Kaling is one of the significant authors in the present day that outlines the aspects of culture and standing within the society. Through her lifetime experiences, Kaling exemplifies feminism and diversity and exudes confidence towards the audience. Mindy Kaling is an actress and comedian for the most renowned for the sitcom The Mindy project. She is also famed for her writing scripts and acting on the sitcom The Office, in which she depicted the character Kelly Kapoor.

"Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me?" is a memoir that was authored by Kaling in 2012. The book is a collection of personal articles and portrays her humorous interpretations on developing as an awkward child, going to a dominant-white university as an Indian-American woman, and maturing into an efficacious comedian and actress. The book reflects on her childhood experiences, her early career, and how she became famous as not only a writer and producer but also actor and director on the sitcom The Office. In the book, Kaling covers the various facets such as dating and irrationalities of being a prominent lady in Hollywood. One of the key pieces of advice and ideas on life given by Kaling within the book is to teenage girls regarding popularity. Without doubt, a great deal of teenage girls incessantly endeavor to be extremely popular in high school or being excellent at something within the school. She points out to them that this should not be an imperative aspect in their lives at the time because such things completely become forgotten once they graduate. She encourages the overlooked and disregarded children in their teens not to be anguished because such feelings do not last forever, but life changes once they get older. In the book, Mindy Kaling talks about being average during her time in school. However, she does tell the readers that life gets better as this is not set in stone (David, 2015).

Another important element that Kaling teachers her readers is to be themselves.
Apart from being an exceptional author, director, producer and actress as well as an extremely hilarious comedian, within the book, Mindy Kaling through her experiences comes across as not only real but also relatable. She does not fear but rather embraces being herself. In addition, Kaling encourages the readers to begin where they are and undertake what they can with what they have at the moment. This is depicted in her rise to fame within the book. Prior to Mindy Kaling's exposure to success, she used to live in New York, unemployed and developed sketches with her roommate (Kaling, 2012). Her rise to stardom in beating her odds is proof that if a person does not try, then he or she will never know what could take place. The sketches that Mindy developed came to be a show Off-Broadway and this steered her to Los Angeles where she made a major break in her career. The advice to readers is that they should take destiny into their own hands because if they do not, they never know what could happen (Shasanya, 2014). Kaling also encourages the readers to aim significantly high when they opt to do so. She states that, "I'm the kind of person who would rather get my hopes up really high and watch them get dashed to pieces than wisely keep my expectations at bay and hope they are exceeded" (Kaling, 2012). Her very ambitious objectives and success are a fine example of this.

"Why Not Me?" is the second book authored by Kaling. One of the kay aspects from the book that transforms and helps the reader is obtaining confidence. In the book Kaling points out that despite her famed status, she akin to everybody else, experienced times when she felt unappealing and unwise and inexperienced. For instance, she goes on to elucidate how during her initial moment in the show The Office, she had no confidence at all. In addition, she outlines how once a young girl had asked her a question on where she gets her confidence and Kaling felt that though she gave an honest response, it was quite insightful. The fundamental advice that Kaling offers the audience is that no person intrinsically.....
