With that foundation and Saddam's regime tactics in the past in which he continued to defy United Nations resolutions there was really no choice but to invade Iraq, disarm it and remove Saddam from power.

When discussing the war in Iraq the most important thing to remember is what happened there before Saddam was taken out of office and tried. The United Nations had made many attempts to work with him to satisfy growing international concerns about his behavior and threats. He chose to ignore all requests, demands and treaties that were placed on him by the UN (Iraq war was necessary (http://media.

He continued to defy the wishes of the United Nations Council while he threatened any nation that dared to criticize his behaviors. While he was never an actual threat to America due to his size and geographic proximity there were several small nations around Iraq that were an undeniable risk. Once he began taking those nations over he would have built more power and larger armies and eventually would have been able to pose a serious threat to America and other Western nations.

He had to be taken out before he got that power......
