I think that I have chosen my own values for the most part, and rejected some of my family's that I feel are old-fashioned or not what I want for my life. For example, I chose a different political than most of my family. I didn't do it to be different, I did it because the party best represented me and my feelings. I don't have to do or enjoy everything my parents and family do, and I think that makes me an individual rather than a "clone." Another thing, I don't have the same "male" values as my dad. He's more machismo and into the male-female division of labor, but not as bad as my grandfather. I don't feel that way, and when I get married, I want us to be a team, rather than follow traditional male-female roles.
