In this sense, it is pointed out that women are not necessarily the embodiment of supermodels; they are in fact regular human beings who must love themselves for who they are and not try to improve themselves through artificial means such as silicones.

Indeed an important part is played by the family, as she clearly states out. Her mother was the one to integrate these values of self-love and it passed to the next generation. Her mother advised her to be an educated well respected woman rather than to become sensitive to issues such as clothes and money. From this point-of-view, family offers a sense of direction and guidance and its role is crucial for establishing human values.

In the "Don't give up on the day job," the actual idea is related to the trivialization of everyday life. Moreover, the message focuses on maintaining of the current job as opposed to offering women the possibility of staying home. This is an important aspect because continuing with the career is crucial to maintain the self-esteem women usually loose after having children or getting married.


In "Love and marriage" the author tries to point out that the notions are by no means synonymous. In fact while marriage represents a contract, love is not the result of marriage. However, women, back in the 1910s, considered marriage to be the ultimate goal in life. Nowadays, things have changed. Indeed, there are a lot of cases in which women dream themselves as brides all their lives. However, more and more women also strive for a long and fruitful career. This perspective chanced especially because the institution of marriage changed. Nowadays, women can be wives and career women at the same time.
