Art," the author Sol LeWitt explains the difference between traditional art and conceptual art. For this type of art, the most important thing is the concept that the author is trying to show; this is the theme or message within the art which may not be easily identifiable by people looking at it. Some people who look at this kind of art do not understand it and do not think it is real art. These people do not understand how much work goes into these kinds of art. They might look improvised and unpolished, but in reality, the artists think about the work beforehand and plan out each part of it before they even start making it. LeWitt even says that the actual making of the art is an afterthought because the artist already knows what he or she is going to do because they have already worked so hard on them.

When making conceptual art, LeWitt says that the artist does not have to be complicated in what they make and instead if they make it simple then it is actually better because a more complicated piece will be less able for people to understand or interpret what is being expressed.
