Black Conservatives in Liberal America

Do you feel, as Malcolm X did, that the black middle class was the bane of the African-American people in forcing artificial conformity and assimilation into the dominant culture? Do you feel that the black middle class is at the heart of the conservative trends in the African-American community? Or do you feel that the black middle class is a positive affirmation of how African-Americans can rise above and meet face-to-face with their former oppressors and is in fact, an expression of liberal politics?

I have mixed feelings about the black middle class, as many African-Americans do. On the one hand I applaud the efforts of those who have put themselves through school and climbed up that hill that is so steep and hard to climb.
