Those who have a more professional work, like a doctor or a lawyer tend to have a higher position in the society as compared with a carpenter or a waiter. A 5 occupational class scheme was discussed: 1st class is the upper level managers and professionals, 2nd class would be the medium level managers and professionals, 3rd class are the lower level office and service workers, 4th class are the skilled manual workers, and lastly, the 5th class is the unskilled manual workers. (Johnson, 2004) Therefore, social class can delineate a person's occupation and therefore characterize his/her experience of work.

Another factor that may affect a person's work life is disabilities acquired, for example, physical disabilities. A person may have one kind of disability or another. he/she may have lost an arm or a leg, he/she may have loss the ability to see, hear or speak. These unfortunate events also contribute into shaping a person's experience at work. Disabilities hinder us to do particular tasks. Disabilities also sometimes make us feel worthless or insignificant, making us quit our jobs or get in the way or self-improvement.

There have been organizations and laws that help disabled people help themselves and protect them from abuse and misjudgments. Decent jobs are offered to persons with disabilities. They are empowered to achieve more, to improve and work around their disabilities. These things also affect a less able person have a more positive work experience.

With that, we can say disabilities alter a person's experience of work. It affects not only the person's physical well being, but also his/her emotional health, thus affecting his/her ability to work and his/her effectiveness at work. Disability also puts on more effort from the person and the society to fight its negative impact.
Therefore, although deemed as unfair at times, people with disability have to work harder to be able to work like a person without the disability.

As those mentioned above, experience at work are affected by a person's age, gender, ethnicity, social class and by many others not mentioned. All of these affect one another. Life at work is characterized by diverse experiences, both negative and positive ones. And they all come together to build a well rounded person. Whether we let our age, gender or any other factor affect us negatively or positively will also depend on us. We could be flexible enough to accept the things we cannot change in ourselves, like our age, and work on those things we can still improve on, like our educational level.
