Recent experimental research has shown that caffeine blocks a type of brain receptor called adenosine A2A. These receptors work in conjunction with dopamine D2 receptors, and caffeine, by blocking the A2A receptors, enables the D2 receptors to be stimulated, thus increasing motor activity and movement.

Athletes and sports active individuals also gain additional benefits from drinking coffee. Human clinical studies show that caffeine enhances the body's ability to utilize body fat for exercise, and increases the body's ability to work out before fatigue. A cup of coffee before working out can do good, enhancing both performance and endurance.

Another beneficial characteristic of coffee is that it contains compounds with antioxidant properties. According to scientific studies, coffee contains four times level of antioxidant than there were in green tea. Antioxidants are thought to thwart diseases and disorder of nervous system. It also protects cells against oxidation which cause the process of slow internal burning within tissues we commonly know as aging. A cup of coffee contains anti-oxidant "polyphenolic.
" Polyphenolic compounds known as flavonoids are common in plants and are known to have disease suppression benefits. Polyphenols protects against cardiovascular disease by reducing the oxidation of LDL Cholesterol. It can also help protect against atherosclerosis, heart attack and stroke.

Other benefits of drinking coffee are as follows: it helps in digestive activity and a morning cup stimulates intestinal elimination. Drinking two to four cups of coffee a day can reduce risk of developing gallstone by as much as 40% and colon cancer by 25%. It also reduces risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes characterized by loss of muscle, liver and fat cell sensitivity to insulin or by a reduced production of insulin by the pancreas.

Clearly, coffee does not only caters on our gustatory desire but indeed balanced ingestion and moderate drinking of coffee enhances our everyday life, improves our well-being and generates a lot of beneficial effects in our body, physically and mentally......
