After Nik and his team have defined their common vision, mission and objectives, they need to also define the strategies and alternatives to attain them. The strategies must be done at as little cost and risk as possible as Mr. Morales' comments in the case study indicate only a small budget is available. The team also needs to concentrate on the socially responsible nature of the decisions as well, as Mr. Morales has stated that he wants any project done on Kava to be consistent with show great respect for the citizens of the island nation, be highly ethical, and in general be completely consistent with his view of social responsibility.

Nik needs to take these concerns for social responsibility into account in the defining and validating of the project and team vision with his co-workers. He also needs to consider how best to partner with those leaders of key industries on Kava from the petroleum, natural gas, agriculture and tourism industries.
Another aspect of defining the vision has to do with how Hilton Worldwide can contribute to greater education for the island nations' children, as the nation has over 50% of the population being 15 years of age or less. Nik will have to also integrate in considerations of the three most critical industries for Hiltons' success with the long-term needs of the nation. He can, if planned right, create a vision that will have the Hilton Worldwide resort is a catalyst of exceptional economic growth for the nation, earning Hilton an exceptionally strong position in the region for socially responsible commerce. Clearly, Mr. Morales greatly values this ideal. For Nik, choosing to concentrate on how the resort development and operations can assist education, healthcare, and tourism industries is going to be crucial for the ling-term success of the project. He will also have to define goals and objectives for how Hilton will enrich and strengthen these three industries, which are essential for the nation of Kava to continue prospering. In short, Nik must think like a policymaker and define how the resort can be the catalyst of growth throughout Kava while attaining a positive Return on Investment......
