Most of us grow up with the belief and feeling that we should have children and that our lives are not fulfilled unless we have children.th is not the take of most educated women. Most f educated women in the society today opt not to bear any children in fact they even lack the time to start up families. They often have a lot of things they consider being of much greater importance compared to starting up families and bearing children. These women are often judged and looked down upon by the society. They are labeled as being unfair people who do not have any humanity in them. However what most people fail to take note is that the choice of having a child lies on an individual.no one should be looked down upon simply because they do not want have children. This paper is on the topic of if educated women chose to have children. There will be various areas that will be focused on including institutional aspects cultural aspects, a social problem or phenomena, religious rituals, family structures cultural traditions and so on (Monstad, 2011).

Highly skilled women lose as much as a third of their lifetime earnings by making the decision to have children, making a prospect of raising a family a far more expensive one for those with education as compared to their counterparts that have less education. According to much research that has been carried out there is a great correlation between a woman's intelligence and whether or not they choose to become a mother ( Filipovic, 2013). Most of the findings show that women that have a higher IQ statistically have a less likelihood of becoming mothers.

This statistics are backed by examples of brilliant women that do not have children among them, Oprah Winfrey, Sen. Elizabeth Dole, and Condoleezza Rice among others. Statistics has shown that educated women who get their first child when they are at the age of thirty loose a significant amount of their lifetime earnings. This is what steers away educated women form getting children since they fear loosing their heard earned money and at the same time want to accomplish more with their lives (King 2011). This makes them completely take child bearing out of the picture no matter how much criticism they receive from their families and even the entire community. On the other hand there are some educated women who choose to bear children. However this is also a decision that is governed by a lot of rules first of all educated women who choose to get children often decide to have very few children at most two. Most of them opt to have only one child where they exercise very strict parenting that requires a fifty/fifty obligation when it comes to bringing up the children. They do not want a system whereby a woman is given the sole responsibility of taking care of the child and family.

In most cultures women are given the role of bearing children. This means that culture expects that women should become mothers and hence do not accept that educated women are slowly trying to break away from these cultural beliefs. The family as an institution requires a father, mother and….....
