The main objective of a position paper is to make sure the reader think the opinion of the paper is defensible and valid. That is why when developing a position paper, it takes time to select an argument, organize the paper, and develop an argument. If a writer does not provide counterclaims and evidence to support claims written in the position paper, it shows a writer lacking information over both sides.

This is why issue criteria may end up being a lengthy and tedious process. This is because by picking a side on a topic, the writer must first as a series of questions like if there are two identifiable positions, if an issue can be considered controversial and uncertain. Is there a personal interest in advocating for one of these positions? Lastly, is there a manageable and narrow enough scope to discuss the issue and position?

While some people try to determine what is valid and invalid in presenting information in a position paper, these questions are important to ask because it helps create a feasible and easy to digest issue and positon from which to write a paper over. Sometimes assignments end up difficult because of lack of strategy. These questions help develop a sound strategy to effectively tackle a position paper.
Another aspect that was hard to realize before is the soundness of the claim and counterclaims and their supporting evidence. Supporting evidence is the main way to convince a reader of what is being said is true.

This leads to how to make an amazing position By listing the pros and cons, it allows the writer to understand what is effective about claims and information found and what is not. It is also important to understand what types of information can be used, the type of source and how to find these sources. Various and multiple types of information lead to a strongly support position

By then comparing the information obtained and making side-by-side comparisons, a writer then has to convince a reader his or her views are sound. In order to appeal to a person, she or she must consider the person's way of thinking. Tailoring the essay to the perspective or mindset of the reader will help the position paper be more palatable to the reader and allow for more understanding of perspectives.

Understanding and creating a concise and clear position paper comes from creating and developing a minimum of three overall points to the argument.
