The Nurse Practitioner -- NP is a registered nurse -- RN having additional education in health assessment, diagnosis and management of illnesses and injuries, inclusive of ordering tests and prescribing drugs. NPs deliver a range of health services to people across all ages, families, communities and groups. Their practice stresses on the health promotion and prevention of illness. They are regulated to undertake comprehensive assessment of health, diagnosis and treat health problems, to order and understand the results of diagnostic and screening tests like ultrasound and mammography and to suggest drugs and medication. NPs deliver care in varied health settings, starting from community clinics and health centers to hospitals, medical practices, nursing homes and home care environments. ENA is the registered body of Emergency Nurses with the objectives of promoting excellence for emergency nursing and promoting quality emergency care, acting as resource for emergency nursing practice, professionalism, education, research and consultation.
