Ethical Awareness Inventory Results and Analysis

Results of my Ethical Awareness Inventory described my ethical perspective to be character-based, wherein I evaluate people more on their ethical character than their present actions. Basically, the results determined me as an individual who can see past ethical or unethical actions, and identify an ethical or unethical person based on his/her overall character. Since my ethical perspective is character-based, I value in people the qualities of integrity, honesty, and wisdom. For me, a person with a strong ethical character is one who would be capable of discernment and would not have difficulties knowing what is right and what is wrong. It goes without saying then, that I myself is an individual who has developed an ethical character over time. I consider myself to be an individual with integrity, and I expect other people to develop this integrity as well.

The results are indeed a confirmation of how I regarded myself when it comes to issues relevant to ethics and ethical conduct, both in my personal and professional lives. For me, ethical conduct is consistently manifested in an individual's life, whether this aspect of life is personal or professional. Indeed, I have always conducted myself in the same manner, applying my ethical perspective and weaving it into different aspects of my life. In others, I also expect people to have consistency in them in terms of ethical conduct and even discernment of another person's character.

On a personal level, I try my best to get to know the people I interact with on a daily basis, as it is in these interactions that I would best develop an assessment of the individual's personality and character. While this process is not deliberate, I consider this 'informal assessment' critical for me as this also becomes my gauge in determining whether I would be able to work well with the person or not, and to take the necessary limitations when upon assessment, the individual has proven himself/herself to have a doubtful (or possibly an unethical) character.

The way I deal and interact with colleagues and acquaintances in my professional life is not unlike the way I interact with other people socially/personally. In the professional realm, I develop an understanding of the individual based on my daily or regular interactions with them. While I may not be able to get to know them personally, I at least base my assessments on the instances that I have to work with colleagues. Like in my personal life, the attitude and ethical disposition of my colleagues are best gauged from my daily interactions with them.

In both cases, I constantly check myself as well, determining if I am being too judgmental about people based on the way they behave in front of me. Perhaps I would also….....
