Transformational leadership is a leadership style that is suitable to motivate change given that leaders set examples to be emulated by their followers. A moment of transforming leadership that I have initiated involved my work in a community project that focuses on empowerment of young people. The community project was facing a crisis in streamlining operations that would enhance ability for accomplishments of the established objectives. After having a meeting with the directors, I decided to engage new leaders and consultants from outside the organization. The involvement of these new leaders and consultants was geared towards helping the organization's top leadership to understand the root causes of the crisis and establish the basic operational capabilities that will enhance effectiveness. After a period of 3 months, the organization's performance improved as more than 4 life skills training projects were introduced and successfully carried out. These projects resulted in the empowerment of more than 100 young people, which was part of the organization's short-term projects. This moment is classified as transforming leadership because it involved individual consideration, which is a component of transformational leadership.
Through the involvement of the outside leaders and consultants, I successfully managed to encourage the organization's associates to achieve objectives that are beneficial to them and the entire organization.

Leadership is a process that is influenced by various factors including possession or development of talents, passion, charisma or social status. Some people become leaders because they have great minds and ideas while others stumble in the process because of the situations or circumstances they find themselves in (Ciulla, p.xv). Regardless of how an individual becomes a leader, becoming a transformational or transforming leader is a different process all together. Transformational or transforming leadership tends to be effective in situations that requiring breaking an organization's administrative custom to create capacity for operational change. This process requires motivating change in order to create a suitable environment for effective transformation. Motivation is necessary because the capacity for change should not be based on coercion but development of an inner commitment to the process.
