EMR Systems

Benefits of Research-based EMR Systems

Research is an investigation conducted on the sources and study materials for the researcher to establish facts and offer new conclusions on a given subject matter. Currently, research is the main factor considered before an organization implements an idea on the product service to be offered to the customers. In this case, it is important for the health care institutions to utilize research concerning the benefits of Electronic Medical Records (EMR) (Greenberg et al., 2016). EMR is an electronic record of any information related to health care of individuals, which can be gathered, created, consulted, and managed by nurses, clinicians, and other authorized staff within healthcare organizations.

With the help of research conducted, health care institution can understand the benefits of EMR systems before implementing the systems. The research will enable the healthcare managers, stakeholders, and other authorities to compare the benefits of EMR systems with manual filing and recording. Some of the research-based benefits of EMR systems include safety, quality, and efficiency within the health care institution (Hazlehurst et al., 2015). With the help of research, the physicians can gather and store patient's information like medications, lab results, diagnosis, and allergies in the EMR systems. During the subsequent visits, the physician can access such information and attend to the patient within the shortest time possible. As a result, the physician, doctor or a nurse will be in a position to save the lives of many people, as he/she can access well-researched information in the EMR systems efficiently and effectively.

After researching information regarding patients and other individuals in the health care institution, the information will be stored in chronological order in the EMS systems as per the time. The physicians, doctors, nurses and any other authorized staff can access specific information according to the time of storage about the subject matter in question at that time. The professional attending to the clients will not spend more time perusing through files and other information before getting the right information. Through the help of research-based EMR systems, the patients can access health information resources, disease management tools, and health records. Some patients might visit health care institutions and ask the physician to show medical records and disease management tools such that he/she can understand how to manage his/her health while at home. It will be difficult for the physician or any other staff to provide such information with well-researched and stored information in EMR systems. Researched and stored information in the EMR systems will enable the medical providers to provide disease surveillance and safety efforts for the patients. It will be easier for the medical experts to monitor the health of the patient and giving recommendations for improvement by accessing the information stored in the EMR systems (Greenberg et al., 2016).
