Data collection in this case took the form of interviews based on pre-tested structured questionnaire. Interviews were scheduled at respondents' residence in order to ensure a relaxed discussion that would allow respondents to answer to questions in the interview as truthfully as possible.

The results of the study confirmed the fact that the majority of the study population represented by tuberculosis patients is indeed within the 15 -- 55 age group. This is the economically productive age group in India. Results of this research study are consistent with previous research. Therefore, the current study confirms previously identified situations.

The study has confirmed the research hypothesis of poverty and inequality influencing the development of tuberculosis in the studied population. Researchers have also identified a new condition: Muslim females are more prone to the disease because of poor economic conditions and gender neglect. This is another issue that ensures how socio-economic factors influence tuberculosis. Another hypothesis tested by this research study is represented by the use of biomass fuel influencing tuberculosis. The study reflects that this is an important factor of influence in this case, and this situation can be observed in the case of Muslim women, more exposed to indoor pollution in comparison with men, because of intensive cooking using biomass fuel.
