The resolution should not be to eliminate the system but to further restore its intended purpose, to act as a parent to children who might be lacking in parenting at home or simply need additional help to reform their actions and attitudes before they enter the adult world.

Sensationalism should not drive policy change, especially policy change that might eliminate something that would be extremely costly to rebuild from the ground up in the future. Children and adult criminals need to be separated from one another by both outcomes of sentencing and in a physical sense of space. There is no better reason to argue for the continuation of the juvenile court system than this argument.
