Role of ethics when building customer database

Ethics refers to the that branch of philosophy dealing with values relating to human conduct, with respect to the rightness and wrongness of certain actions and to the goodness and badness of the motives and ends of such actions. In the process of building a customer database there is need of both professional/business ethics and personal ethics.

In developing the databases, customer relations needs to be developed in order to identify the need and preferences of a customer and also to help in constructing satisfactory customer survey on the customer preference on goods and services. Taking care of the customer views and requirements, in an ethical manner and genuine engagement, is a plus for the company since the clients will ultimately feel safer in the hands of the company, bringing more business to the company.

The database helps in maximizing customer value thro conversion, retention and repeat sales .ethics helps in providing privacy to the customers when building a database, the collection of individual, customer behavioral information is isolated from each customer.
