Activity 1: Braun Pocket Radio

Entertainment has always been the most integral and essential part of lives of people regardless of the demographics, socio economical backgrounds, or age groups. The form of entertainment has evolved over a period of time with the evolution in technology. One of the most common and popular form of entertainment is music. Music lovers exist around the world and in every age group. While the music listening equipment dates back to the huge gramophone and radio, with the evolution in technology and industrial revolution, smaller and more portable equipments were invented. There came a time when the bigger equipments were replaced by the small portable radios.

Talking about the 1960s, it was known as one of the first most hip fashion eras. The fashion scene was influenced by major fashion hubs around the world. Besides clothing and apparel, carrying gadgets and accessories also became part of the fashion statement. This trend gained popularity with the launch of the Braun Pocket Radio. Braun, a German electronic brand, is now one of the major household icons. The 1.5 lbs battery operated portable radio, packed in a sophisticated leather case, became popular as it hit the shelves and the trend stayed for long. Not on the young party goers made it part of their style statements but was also popular among the older groups.
