Ethics in local government: The New Jersey ethics scandal

New Jersey has long had a reputation as one of the most corrupt state in the U.S., and the 2009 bribery scandal which resulted in the indictment of 44 people, including three New Jersey mayors, two state assemblymen and five rabbis, perpetuated this stereotype. Over the course of the case an informant working for the government named Solomon Dwek told "three rabbis in Brooklyn and two in New Jersey that he was bankrupt and trying to conceal his assets.
