The best nursing practice in the specific case would be not only the direct care of the young patient, but also the inclusion of the family in the in house hospital care as to provide an example of what is to be done at home in order to prevent relapse. Many family members might mistakenly believe that their own form of care will be sufficient in the case of a child's illness. However, it is the nurse's duty in such cases to prove to those family members that they need to follow specific and professionally proven methodologies in order to succeed in the recovery process, "Proponents of professionally-centered models view professionals as experts who determine child and family needs from their own as opposed to a family's perspective," (Trivette, Carl J.; Dunst, Carl; Boyd, Kimberly; Hamby, Debra W., 1995).
